Eye Exams in Chiang Mai by Doctors of Optometry

If you need a proper eye exam in Chiang Mai — not just a quick reading at a glasses counter — The Vision Optic is built around exactly that. Every exam here is performed by a licensed Doctor of Optometry, in dedicated examination rooms, with equipment you would normally find in a hospital eye department.

What makes our exam different

We are the first and only optical shop in northern Thailand with the Rodenstock DNEye® Scanner 3 from Germany. In about 90 seconds it measures more than 7,000 points across your eye — corneal mapping, intraocular pressure, and retinal imaging — and measures your vision in both bright and low-light conditions, because your pupils (and your prescription) behave differently at night.

Retinal photography with a ZEISS fundus camera — a basic health check of the back of your eye, no dilating drops needed
Slit lamp examination of the cornea and front of the eye
Dry eye analysis — tear film assessment to find the actual cause, useful if screens are part of your workday
Binocular vision testing — how your eyes work together, not just each eye alone

Three Doctors of Optometry work at the shop: Panuwat Chaijapo, O.D., Nursabiha Hayisama-ae, O.D., and Torsak Namkhammee, O.D. International customers are very welcome — Chiang Mai's expat community has been part of this shop for years.

Bring your current glasses or an old prescription if you have one — it helps us see how your eyes have changed

If the exam finds something that needs medical attention rather than glasses, we will tell you directly and refer you to an ophthalmologist — we would rather send you to a hospital than sell you lenses that do not solve the problem.
