FAQ for Expats & Visitors
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome every day, 10:00–19:00. Booking ahead (052-010232 or LINE @thevisionoptic) guarantees an exam room at your preferred time.
Is the exam in English?
International customers are welcome and have been part of the shop for years. If you would like to be sure about language before visiting, message us on LINE (@thevisionoptic) — we reply in English.
How long until my glasses are ready?
It depends on your lenses: stock lenses are the fastest, while personalised progressives are made to order in Germany and take longer. We always confirm the exact pickup date before you pay — if you are on a fixed travel schedule, tell us first and we will say honestly whether it fits.
Can I use a prescription from my home country?
Yes. Bring the paper or a photo of it. If it is more than a year old we recommend a re-check — vision changes, and re-checking is part of the service.
Can I claim this on my insurance?
Insurers differ in what documents they accept, so check your policy's requirements first, then ask us before your exam — we'll tell you exactly what paperwork we can provide for your claim.
Are the brands genuine?
Yes — we are an authorised dealer for every brand in the shop, including LINDBERG, Rodenstock, ZEISS, Ray-Ban and Oakley, with manufacturer warranties. The shop has served Chiang Mai for over three decades.
Where do I park?
Free parking inside the Punna complex on Nimmanhaemin Soi 6 — drive in, park, and use our back entrance. There is a coffee shop and restaurants in the same complex if you are waiting on lenses.
What if my glasses need adjusting later?
Come in any time — adjustments, refitting and small part replacements are free for the life of your glasses.
